Personal Mythology
Personal Mythology is an amalgam of free-play shapes drawn on found plastic-binder-dividers, and cut out with an exacto knife to create mosaic pieces. Layered and arranged carefully for weeks, they harmonize in the form of a stained glass church window, inhabited by the shapes that live in the free play, and I, in the fetal position beneath them.
Invoking concepts of worship, creation stories, and how the deities we create are reflections of our own desires. In this piece I say: the free play is more than me and I honor it, submit myself to it, and I ask it to hold and nurture me.
